“Defeat on the Double Bass Line” is the second song released from Hockey’s new album and its downtempo feel is fitting perfectly into my ears right now.
Ben seems so much more comfortable singing in this lower range vs. the straining hes had to do on tracks like “Too Fake” and “Learn to Lose.”
Loving the lyrics that have come out thus far in both this cut and “Calling Back.” Also digging the subtle hints of Zenyatta Mondatta era Police.
You can pick-up Wyeth IS digitally on May 7th, and physically on June 25th.

Hockey - “Wild Style”
Hot off the presses! Hockey’s new album, Wyeth IS, (digitally) drops next week, but right now… yes right now… you can check out the records opening tune, “Wild Style”. It’s the fourth track the band has leaked and while “Calling Back” has been my jam for sometime now… I think “Wild Style” is THE cut off this record. You be the judge.
Hockey’s new album “Wyeth Is” is out today! Pick up a copy, and SEE THEM LIVE at Royale with The Hush Sound, River City Extension, Genevieve (from Company of Thieves) and Lucas Carpenter!

We asked the band about their expectations, influences, and plans regarding their new album ‘Wyeth IS’.Portland, Oregon, revivalists Hockey snuck onto everyone’s radar with their chipper single “Too Fake.” Nearly four years after the debut, Hockey is breaking their silence with a hook-heavy follow-up and a conversation with IndScene about the years between. The dance punk duo took some time to chat about their sophomore release, Wyeth IS, and some unforgettable moments on tour. Read the interview here.
Also I’m going to try to be more active with this fanpage! I may be changing the theme up soon and adding links.
Songs from 2005’s release Zombies and Pirates #1 are now available to stream on Spotify! Not sure how long they’ve been there, as I haven’t used my Spotify in awhile, but in case you do use Spotify and didn’t already know… now you do!
The songs are “Bullfight” and “Reading to an Elephant.”
Thank you to the person who sent the beautiful fanmail. It’s always nice to meet a fellow Hockey fan! I’m mobile blogging and this is a tumble-log so I can’t respond privately but your kindness is much appreciated! Thank you so much.
